New Years Eve. The night that the world comes together through debauchery of alcohol and parties to celebrate on more trip around the sun. With it being the high point of our year, it all comes crashing down the next morning as we search for the aspirin and a large Gatorade; I prefer red, to then be greeted by the well-rested kids who spent the night at Grandma's. It is then we pray to food and beverage gods that the brunch place around the corner miraculously has saved your table. Only to arrive and be informed your small table of 4 is on a 2-hour wait.

While we can't get rid of the hangover, here's is a guide, with the shopping list, to help you create the food baby needed to help nurse yourself back to normal. We have included the essentials, bacon, substance, fruit, caffeine and the added Hair of the Dog just for safe measure. We encourage you to print this off better yet just memorize it. This is more about increasing your couch time of watching "Best of 2018" shows and pushing through what arguably will be recovering from your best bender this year.

Menu

First, there's bacon. Delicious crispy bacon.

Main dish is a bacon and arugula quiche. Really any quiche will do. I've added a recipe for a ham and mushroom one as well. The important thing is that it can be made ahead and then just heated up the next morning. Add some cut up cherry tomatoes with balsamic vinegar and a bit of sour cream.

Sliced fingerling potatoes that have been crisped in the bacon fat.

Pass up the pancakes and just bake a roll of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. Turn on Paw Patrol and now the kids are happy. The rest is all about hydration and resting.

The List

2 packages of thick-cut bacon
1 dozen eggs
1 package of Gruyere cheese
1 package of arugula
1 shallot
1 pint of heavy whippping cream
1 package of Parmesan cheese
1 package of unsalted butter
1 package of bread flour
1 package of fingerling potatoes
1 roll of cinnamon rolls
1 package of cherry tomatoes
Aspirin
Fruit
Juice
Gatorade
Coffee
Half & Half

Prep

First things first, make your quiche. I've always down for a bacon and arugula quiche though I'm pretty excited about this ham and mushroom as well. Once done, wrap them up and place them in the fridge.

Parboil the fingerling potatoes, with well salted water and then slice length wise. Store in the fridge for tomorrow.

Slice the tomatoes in half, place in a bowl, mix with some salt, enough balsamic vingegar to coat and maybe some chopped basil. Store in the fridge for tomorrow.

Now cut up your fruit in a bowl, drizzle some maple syrup on top, mix and let it sit in the fridge for tomorrow.
Make sure the coffee maker is ready to go with fresh grounds and water.

Morning of

Turn on the coffee maker.

Take aspirin and wash down with Gatorade.

Preheat oven to the instructions of the cinnamon rolls.

Pull quiche, potatoes and remaining bacon out of the fridge.

On a sheet pan place your bacon down on one side. On the other side lay out your potatoes cut-side down.

While your oven is preheating, place the sheetpan in the oven. The bacon and potatoes will take the longest.

Once the oven has hit temp, place the quiche and the cinnamon rolls in the oven to cook and warmup.

Rehydrate some more.

At the halfway point of the cinnamon rolls cooking time, check your bacon and flip if necessary.

Pull juices, fruit, tomato salsa and sour cream from the fridge. Place spoons where needed. Once cinnamon rolls are done, check your quiche and pull it out if down.

Once bacon is down, place on a paper towel lined plate along with the potatoes.

Make yourself a plate, hit the couch and enjoy the New Year.
